Nature Detective in the Forest
For ages 8 – 11 Date: Thursday, July 22nd, 2010
From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

In this one-day camp, spend the day with a ranger, using detective skills to get to know forest creatures and their habitats. Participants will go on a forest scavenger hunt, do a one-square-meter investigation of the forest, use clues to identify trees, birds, and reptiles, play games, and use the park lab’s Enviroscape. Everyone takes home their own bug jar/magnifier (without the bug), a pine cone birdfeeder and his year, for the first time, a Nature Detective T-shirt (each participant will receive one T-shirt per summer)!

Bring: Lunch and a drink.
Meet at Park Center.
Completed registration form and pre-payment required.

Nature Detective in the Creek
For ages 8 – 11 Date: Thursday, July 29th, 2010
From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

In this one-day camp, spend the day with a ranger, using detective skills to get to know creek creatures and their habitats. Participants will get in the creek to do a stream water quality investigation, look for clues left by the park’s beavers (more than just chewed trees), play games and go on a creek creature scavenger hunt. Take home a collecting container with net, a magnet, and - new this year - a Nature Detective T-shirt (each participant will receive one T-shirt per summer)!

Bring: Lunch, drink and shoes that can get wet.
Meet at Park Center.
