This painting, “Spring at Buckhorn” was presented by Columbia artist Jennie J. Branham. Jennie took part in the Artist-in-Residency Program for the SC Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

This relatively new program allows artists to utilize the State Parks of South Carolina as inspiration for their work. Each park has the option to participate in the program based on the need for artwork. Artists are given the opportunity to stay at one of the park’s cabins or villas in return for a painting. Jennie spent a week in various areas of Paris Mountain State Park, and got inspiration for this painting from the beautiful lake at the CCC-built Camp Buckhorn.
